Traditional Abu Dhabi Lucia

Last night we celebrated Lucia at the Ambassador's residence House of Sweden, here in Abu Dhabi. Traditionally I say, as it was the third year for us in this format, and I was happy that at least Linnea still wanted to take part in the Lucia procession.

As I had pulled out of organizing, I could enjoy the mingling and the 'fika' together with all the other guests before the Lucia arrived. Always so lovely around the pool at the residence.

Saffron buns, gingerbread biscuits, marshmallow Santas, candy canes, Swedish meatballs... mmm!

Then the Luciatåg arrived:

It was a perfect evening, luckily not as windy as last year, and everything went really well. So impressed by all the kids. The audience was rather big this year and the Luciatåg was mostly made up of quite young children, but they sang beautifully and it was all very cute!

(The last two photos were taken by a fellow parent, Jonas Wander-Levin. Thank you.)

We tried to get a nice relaxed group photo after...
