The Hunting & Equestrian Exhibition, again

The kids and I went to the 'Abu Dhabi International Hunting & Equestrian Exhibition' two years ago on a whim, and it was a really good visit. It was on again this weekend so we decided to make a quick stop there with Uncle Thomas, to show him a bit of the Emirati heritage and culture.

ADIHEX is the only dedicated consumer and trade event in the Middle East for hunting, equestrian, outdoor and marine sports, safari, arts and antiques. Showcasing the best the trade has to offer, and enhanced by Abu Dhabi's leading role in promoting its own heritage.

Again, the exhibition was enormous, and we saw a lot of fascinating exhibits, of all sorts of things. Like these big boys toys:

Huge camper vans, with space for the boys toys!

Picnic items, like baskets, desert blankets, pillows, coffee pots, cool bags etc:

Falcons, both for display and for sale, of course:

A saluki beauty contest was on:

Massive built up stalls and exhibits, very impressive:

Pearl diving exhibit:

Furniture and other decorative (?) items:

Heritage exhibit, women weaving baskets, fans and food covers out of palm leaves:

Houbara birds:

This year we did go into the weapons exhibit too, just out of curiousity. The most expensive gun we saw was for sale for about 500 000 AED..!

Again a very good visit, and really something everyone that lives here should experience. Such a superb showcase of all things Emirati. I loved it!
