Sure, I'm away but I still keep tabs on what's going on back at home. A bit like last month, the changes in guidelines keeps feeling like one step forward and two steps back. For example, the home quarantine period if you have been in close contact has now been extended from 5 to 7 days if you are vaccinated (if not vaccinated it's 12 days).
The quarantine period is also the same if you travel from a ‘Red List’-country, which will now very much affect us as Sweden (together with Norway, Denmark, Finland and a bunch of other European countries) got removed from the newest ‘Green List’ valid from yesterday… grrrrr!
New movement restrictions started in the middle of the month and are still in force. They mean that you are not allowed to leave your home (unless you apply for and get approved a “movement permit”) between 12 and 5 am every night.
Here are the UAE numbers from today:
* There was 1519 new cases discovered from 284,403 tests. To date more than 66,2 M PCR tests have been conducted in total in the UAE.
* 2 people passed away which brings the total death toll to 1951.
* A further 15279 vaccine doses were administered. This means that 70.57% of the population now is fully vaccinated (78.95% have received their first dose).
Your vaccine status will become most important this month, as the newest rules made official stipulates that from the 20th of August you need to be fully vaccinated to enter any restaurants, malls, amusement parks, hotels - or schools!
We are all vaccinated, so no need to haste to action anything else for us. But it’ll be interesting to see which vaccines will be approved for tourists and future visitors and how they will be asked/allowed to prove their status.
