Finally last week, us Abu Dhabi Tour Guides were invited to a training at the Qasr Al Hosn. This symbolic birthplace of Abu Dhabi has been opened for the public since December, after about a decade long renovation; and we have eagerly been waiting for this Masterclass to get to learn all the details about it.
As this season is about to be finished, I guess this training came better late than never, and I was really excited to go. They have done such an outstanding job on the Qasr Al Hosn site, and I love taking guests there and tell them the story of Abu Dhabi.
These days are also great as you get to catch up with your colleagues. Being a Tour Guide is a somewhat rather lonely job, we only cross paths
every now and then when we work together for the big groups.
We were shown around both the fort and the palace, but also the House of Artisans and the Cultural Foundation. This last part was the most rewarding for me, as I didn't know much beforehand about any of the Emirati artists currently displaying in the Cultural Foundation.
