Tuesday morning the movers turned up with two big trucks to load all the packed furniture and boxes, like a big Tetris. It was crunch time!
We drove over to the new place to be ready to receive them, all while the last inspection was going on there... Then it was all go go go go all day!
Luckily our duplex has two entrances, one on each floor, so
the movers could bring everything in the elevator and didn't have to carry too
much up or down any stairs (only when it ended up in the wrong
room...). Boxes and furniture entered in raging speed, and I tried to
keep up best I could directing everything to the right space. Look at my sea view!
The
movers had dutifully marked everything, but the issue was that some
things were not going into the same rooms they came out of, so to speak.
So there was a bit of a shuffle around.
Then, they started
assembling and unpacking everything... Took them most of the day, with a
KFC lunch break thrown in for them as a treat! In the end there was
quite a few things I wasn't sure of, so they just had to leave it in the
boxes for later.
We ended the day when they had left, with take-away Mexican food and strong G&Ts in the company of our friend Peta, who brought us some bubbly and flowers to welcome us to the neighbourhood. Aaahhh... and breathe...
