The Jewel

We made sure we got picked up by our driver in good time on our departure day, because I really wanted to get to the airport early to have a chance to explore the latest new craze there - the Jewel Changi Airport.

The Jewel only opened in April this year. This stunning glass and steel dome is the home to gardens, attractions, restaurants, retail, playgrounds and more.

The centerpiece of it all is this Rain Vortex waterfall which drops 40 meters from an oculus the size of a bus. It's the tallest indoor waterfall in the world.

Some of the attractions weren't open yet unfortunately, we missed getting the full experience by four days. You will be able to hike the 4-storey high (indoor!) Shiseido Forest Valley, with more than 900 trees; bounce on nets at the Canopy Park; get lost in the largest hedge maze in Singapore and walk amongst the clouds on the Canopy Bridge, suspended 23 meters off the ground.

Here is a snapshot of the Petal Garden which is situated on the top floor. It looks like it will be a space full of creative flower displays.

Matt, Luca and Ashley came to see us off so we had a last beer at the Tiger Street Lab, the only place in the world where you can try seasonal Tiger brews.

Bye bye Roses and thank you for this time!
