A Dubai discovery day

On Monday Linda and I took a day in Dubai together, to discover some new areas she had on her bucket lists. We started with a really lovely breakfast in this concept store/café, down in the Jumeirah area:

Then we went to see the model display and small expo about the new Dubai Creek Harbour development, and the newest "tallest building in the world" which is in the works. They hope it'll be ready for the Dubai Expo 2020, let's see.

Even just the model is impressive!!

Unfortunately it was a very hazy day, otherwise you are apparently supposed to have a great view over the Dubai skyline here from the creek area...

On our way from the Dubai Creek Harbour we made a quick pitstop to look at the flamingos here in Dubai. Surprisingly they hung out in a nearly drained area, there was hardly any water at all; but quite a large group of flamingos.

Finally we went to visit a few art galleries in Alserkal Avenue, an arts and culture neighbourhood in the Al Quoz industrial area. We had some trouble finding the right place, as it really just looks like a bunch of warehouses, but I guess that's the whole idea..!
We found a gallery full of Danish design, Ikonhouse:

And we had lunch in this most amazing vegan restaurant we happened to stumble across, Wild & The Moon. Delish food and a super cool interior!

We really live in an amazing country with so much to discover and explore! Who knew this fab place was hidden away in amongst these industrial buildings! Awesome!
