Lisbon - Day 4 - The Castle of the Moors

After our visit to The Pena Palace we continued down the hill a little bit, to check out the medieval castle built close by.


We chose just to go up to the castle, not into it, but as it is perched on the top of another mountain we again had splendid views. Here we are along the outer wall, where you could see the short, narrow entrance and battlements.





This was contructed by the Moors in the 8th and 9th centuries, and another part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site that is Sintra.


I really enjoyed our walkabout in these surroundings. Such a beautiful area!
