Erika wanted to go bird spotting when she was here, or at the very least be outside as much as possible, preferably in some kind of nature. We contemplated going to a bird sanctuary she had googled about, in Sharjah, but it turned out it was a 2,5 h drive each way so we decided that was a bit far away just for a day trip. Instead we ended up in the Miracle Garden, in Dubai.
I had to check the blog when I was here last, and it turned out it was nine years ago! It had changed quite a bit since then I can tell you! I recognised the big floral clock, but that was kind of it!
I remember last time I was surprised there wasn't a lot of people and we even struggled to find somewhere to have a bit to eat. Now, it was quite the opposite! Tons and TONS of people, souvenir sellers, photographers, and restaurants and coffee shops in every corner... very commercialised...
Of course, Miracle Garden is part of the Guinness World Record-record (UAE has the Guinness World Record for the most World Records..!) as well, f.e with this life-size Airbus A380 flower structure - the biggest flower structure in the world, covered with an impressive 500,000 flowers and plants.
Well, even though it felt there was almost as many million people as flowers, it was an enjoyable afternoon out. Wintertime in the UAE is the best.
