I just looked back at last years visit to Grums before starting this post, and apparently last year we had "absolutely fantastic weather"..! Well... that was NOT the case this time... as per the rest of the summer, we had mostly rain, all weekend. No swimming was done this time, actually, we didn't swim all summer..!
Instead we cheered on the Swedish national ladies football team as they won against Japan in the quarterfinals. (They later lost the semifinal against Spain who went on to win, and Sweden got a bronze medal against Australia)
One day we went for a bit of an outing to the town of Sunne. The famous writer Selma Lagerlöf was born an grew up at Mårbacka, close to here. It's her you can see on the mural here:We also went shopping in central Karlstad, and for a bit of a sightseeing walk as Anna had never really been:
One evening the mums went down to the lake. Linda (being the only true Viking amongst us) wanted to go for a swim, so Anna and I took Bull (the dog) for a bit of a walk instead. Beautiful though!
It was just the girls this time. Cameron didn't come along at all to Sweden this summer, he was busy with work, his girlfriend and other friends. Lucas was back in Copenhagen for work too this weekend, after having more than three weeks off; and the other two boys stayed with their Dad for the weekend so we didn't see them.
Previous years I often brought clothes that my kids had grown out of, as the others were a few years behind and sometimes could get some more use out of them. Not anymore obviously, as they have grown up into different shapes and sizes and developed different tastes in clothing.
But here's recycling at its best - Linda in a pair of Lucas' old joggers! Whatever works!
The girls were watching horror movies:
Linda took Anna and me to Värmskog one day for lunch. They are famous for their prawn sandwiches, and yes, we were impressed! Look at the amount of prawns, we almost couldn't finish!
A slightly reduced group photo this year, just the girls! I wonder how it'll look next year!
