Stockholm, Day 1 - The Royal Armoury

So Linnea got to come with me to Stockholm for the what is usually my "me-week" with Erika. We compromised a bit, first she got a few days with me in Stockholm and then she went back to Mormor for the last few days of the week. Win-win for all!

We started our first day with some shopping for Linnea. She had a few things on her list so we concentrated on those. Then we had lunch at Pytterian, a favourite of mine. Cheers to Stockholm!

In the afternoon we did a bit of sightseeing and went to visit the Royal Armoury, housed in the spectacular cellar vaults of the Royal Palace. Probably more interesting for us than for Linnea, but there you go, our day had to contain something for everyone.

The Royal Armoury is the oldest museum in Stockholm and houses unique collections depicting the royal history of Sweden. It just reopened again this June following a period of refurbishment, so Erika hadn't seen the new updated exhibition either.

The Royal Armoury exhibition tells a chronological tale about the power of the monarchy over the past 500 years. It was quite cool, some of the stations were interactive with smells, materials andsounds; and the exhibition boasted a wide range of historical artefacts and treasures.

We finished our day in style in Gamla Stan (=the Old Town) with some mega massive ice creams, yum!
