Japan, Day 5 - The Tōdai-ji Temple

Nara is also the home of one of the more spectacular must-sees for all visitors to Japan, the huge Tōdai-ji Temple.

This temple was once the world's largest wooden building (surpassed in 1998 by a Japanese stadium).

The temple is the home of the famous Daibutsu (Great Buddha), a 16 meter high Buddha statue which weighs 500 tonnes and is the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world.
