A historical hat-trick

This was the moment that rugby fans all over the world had been waiting for, for the last four years - after 47 matches played by 20 nations in the past six weeks, the 2015 Rugby World Cup was down to New Zealand vs Australia last night - one of which was guaranteed to make sporting history by winning the final at Twickenham.

We went to see the RWC Final together with some friends, at the Stills Bar. The set up was alright, our seats were a bit far back, but to be honest we stood up during most of the game anyway. Unfortunately it was an Aussie-heavy audience, we actually didn't see ANY other All Blacks jerseys at all; so we made sure WE cheered and shouted as loudly as we could for our boys!!

Even though the game started at prime time 8 pm, Linnea didn't even make it through the first half before she was sound asleep on one of the sofas... Here a shot from the slightly tense few minutes in 2nd half, when the Wallabies reduced our 21-3 lead to only four points:

But, the Aussies didn't stand a chance, the All Black side was too mighty and the Webb Ellis Cup belongs to NZ for another four years!

New Zealand made rugby history last night as they became the first three-time winners of the Rugby World Cup and the first team to successfully defend the title with this back-to-back win. They were also the first team to score three tries in a RWC final, AND it was also the first time NZ won the tournament on foreign soil.

Here is a short video if you would like to relive some of the highlights:

Yes, it sure was an epic win by a team of All Blacks legends, delivered in style, over their greatest rivals on the rugby field. My Facebook feed and the online news pages I read, are boiling over about this greatest ever sporting achievement by the All Blacks.

I'm so proud to be "Kiwi-by-proxy" and support this team, in this sport. Ka Pai - well done fellas!
