Level 33

On the Monday Misuzu wanted to take us to a favourite place of hers with great views of Singapore, Level 33 - the World's Highest Urban Microbrewery. Just the place for Nathan!

Great views over the Marina Bay from here!
The skies were super dramatic when we arrived, but luckily we had time to grab some panoramic photos before the rain came.

Cool views and awesome food.

Then the rain and the fog rolled in, and everything outside the window disappeared! I loved it, I miss weather! Yes in general, but also these amazing thunderstorms in particular.

In the evening Misuzu hosted a BBQ at their place, more food, glorious food... I so miss living next door to Misuzu, ha ha!

Good people - good night!

Brunei boys.

Time-lapse

I just had to look up the photos from our last visit to the Gardens by the Bay back in 2013. Oh my how little and cute they all were..!

And look at them now!

Supertree Grove

This holiday was surely more about friends and less about sightseeing, but it's no secret that my favourite thing to do while traveling is - combining both! On Sunday afternoon I managed to convince everyone to come along to go see the Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay.

We came to the Gardens by the Bay once before while visiting Matt & Misuzu, back in 2013. Then we visited the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest, but we didn't walk the OCBC Skyway, so that's where we were heading now!

This 128 meter long walkway is 22 meters up in the air, suspended between two of the Supertrees. I might look calm and collected in these photos, but actually I didn't like it at all... I rushed along this walkway in a cold sweat, taking as many photos as I could while shaking...

The trees are full of vertical gardening, they are clad with ferns, orchids, bromeliads, tropical climbers and other flowers. About 158,000 plants in different colour schemes have been used. Really, really pretty.

The Supertrees add scale and dimension to the beautiful landscape around the gardens, they were designed to mirror the form and function of mature trees. There are 18 trees in total and 11 of them have solar panels on top of their crowns to absorb sunlight just like a real tree. They measure between 25 and 50 meters tall.

In the evening the Supertrees comes to life with spectacular lighting and a sound-and-light show. Some of the energy used for this comes from the solar energy that the trees capture. Unfortunately we were all so hungry that we didn't have time to stick around and see the light show. Next time!

This park really is like a perfect storm of nature and technology. Such a fantastically beautiful experience to wander around here.

At Bayshore Park

We spent the Sunday with the Roses at Bayshore Park. They have such amazing views from their apartment:

Although, we spent most of the day at their pool. All swimming, chilling, and helping them finish off all the food they had left from Olivers birthday party the day before. So relaxing, and perfect temperatures, both in the air and in the pool. Kids were busy doing tricks:

On the 17th floor

We were so lucky this year as to get a whole week off for Eid, yay! As Nathan had leave as well we took a family trip out to Singapore to catch up with a few friends. We booked in to a hotel in Katong, just behind the RBA crew hotel Roxy Mercure, as Will was there and he had brought Tash and the kids over too.
While the kids were happy with room service together with Ben & Hannah in their room, we joined Will and Tash in their club lounge on the 17th floor, for some sunset drinks. Great views over the east coast of Singapore!

The first night we were there we managed to meet up with Andrew as well, before he left to go back to Brunei. That lounge on the 17th floor quickly gets buzzing with all the RBA people in town!

After many lovely drinks at the 17th floor, we went out on one of the back streets to grab some dinner, and some more drinks. It turned into a very festive night..!
A night that lasted so long that we didn't make it down to the hotel breakfast the next day but instead went straight to the German place for pork and beer - and stayed for four hours!

We also got to enjoy the company of the Roses who turned up for a while in between all their different weekend activities.

In the afternoon it was time for the kids to get some pool time, while the rest of us waited for 5pm so that the 17th floor would open again.

Another night out with the Turners, this time with the addition of Misuzu!

Good friends! Good fun!
