Hindens Rev

Today it was time for another excursion, and one I have been wanting to do already for many summers - visiting Hindens Rev. It being totally Corona-safe made for a perfect thing to do this particular time.

Hindens Rev is a nature reserve with very distinctive scenery. It is a 5k peninsula that is stretching straight out into Lake Vänern, the largest lake in Sweden.

We walked all the way out to the end of the peninsula of course. So so so pretty!

Hindens Rev forms part of the Swedish ice-edged zone, which was created during the last ice age about 11,000 years ago. Towards the tip of it, it disappears under the surface of the water and reappears on the Dalsland side, where it is known as Hjortens Udde.

Here we are all the way out on the end!
This peninsula was never wider than 100m as we walked all the way out on it, mostly narrower. It was rather cool being able to see both sides at the same time. One where the waves would hit, and the other significantly calmer.

We had brought a picnic basket, so at the end of the Hindens Rev we had some 'fika' and a welcome walking break. Kids are not really used to this much exercise...

My Mum and me:

It was a really hot day, so on the way back we decided to go for a swim. So gorgeous!

Such a beautiful beautiful place!
