Swanky Terminal A

It was finally the time for Linnea and I to travel out of the slick new Terminal A on our way to London. A very smooth experience, as everything is touch free, interconnected and biometric. Fully operational, it will be the only airport in the world to offer all 9 touchpoints in the biometric journey, from pre-travel to boarding gate, including f.e retail, baggage-drop and transfers as well.

The new Terminal A that opened in November is one of the world's largest airport terminals. It covers some 742,000 square meters, which is triple the size of the previous terminals.

It is equipped to handle around 45 million passengers annually, can handle 79 aircraft at any given time and process close to 20,000 bags per hour.

It was modern and bright, and super spacious. Even though we are in mid-December and air travel should be at its height, it didn't seem busy at all.
It is designed with four themed piers, inspired by the desert, sea, city and oasis of Abu Dhabi.

If you are not planning to come to Abu Dhabi to experience this fancy new high-tech terminal any time soon, you can catch a glimpse of it in the latest Mission Impossible movie, "Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1" that premiered earlier this year.
