1st December 2021 Covid status

It's starting to feel like this will never end, like this is just the new normal. The month of November has really felt quite slow, in terms of any changes for the better. Prayers at the mosque have now resumed but other than that, I haven't really been able to find any other improvements on restrictions.
I guess the feeling at least is that life is happening, it's not so much "one step forward-two steps back" as it was at one stage; but improvements are certainly not coming as fast as I would like them to. Especially not now with the new 'Omicron'-mutation, it's rather like we are back to not knowing what will come next - at all. The UAE recorded it's first Omicron-case today, and the reaction was super fast: now we have to test every 14 days to keep our Al Hosn Pass green, instead of every 30 days as it's been until now.

The UAE has reached a few important milestones this past month though. Last Friday the Covid vaccination campaign announced that 100% of the population have now received their first dose. (I guess they mean of the eligible population though, as under-16s are still not required to be vaccinated). This means that the UAE leads the worldwide Covid-19 vaccination charts; and according to the latest Bloomberg Covid Resilience Chart, the UAE has moved from third place and currently places first, with Finland and Chile also at the top.
We have also passed 100 million tests done since the outbreak began, and cases have been as low as only in the 50s lately. All good stuff!

The numbers for today are:
* 68 new cases from 281,355 tests.
* 1 death, total UAE death toll 2148.
* In the last 24 hours 24,744 doses of Covid-19 vaccine was administered, bringing the total of vaccine doses given to a whopping 21,895,945M; and 90.49% of the population is now fully vaccinated.
