At Warehouse 421

Frida and I went for breakfast down in Mina Zayed on Sunday, at a restaurant she had heard about that bakes fresh stone oven croissants every morning. It was just as delicious as we had hoped for, om nom nom! A shame it's so far away!
Since we were down that end of town we decided to stop in and have a look at Warehouse 421, the art and design center. They are supporting talent from UAE, Middle East and South Asia, and currently they had two different new exhibitions.

It had been a really long time since I last visited, and Frida didn't even know it existed, so it was a great little visit for both of us.

The first exhibition was called As We Gaze Upon Her, and we both agreed that we thought it was a really thought-provoking exhibition. It aims in different ways to expand the notion of 'woman', so often constrained by social, cultural and existential insecurities.

The participating artists addresses the concept of 'woman' in many different ways, its roles in the home and in society, ways it exists and moves and how its objectified.

The second exhibition currently at the gallery, is called So different, So Appealing. An exhibition which examines the real estate industry in different ways.

This is a really lovely space, both indoor and outdoor. I should really go back there more often than every few years..!
