Stockholm - Etnografiska Museet

The Ethnography Museum in Stockholm have free entrance every Tuesday afternoon, so that was our choice of activity to continue our day after our walk across Djurgården.

But first things first, lunch! Swedish meatballs, what else?

We started with the temporary exhibition at the Ethnographic Museum, called ¡Viva México!

Even though the museum had free entrance, there wasn't a lot of visitors. We could have a good look around the exhibition.

I always enjoy when I see or recognise items similar to the ones we have in the collections at the Louvre Abu Dhabi. It's interesting to see how they are presented in other places and spaces, and of course I photograph all the signs to gain more information and new perspectives.

In Mexico it is said that the past never dies. It is a country where traditions have been mixing and reshaping for thousands of years. Through the exhibition we could follow stories of life and death, about how the people of Mexico have lived, celebrated and mourned throughout history, and now.

Then we continued with the permanent exhibitions, one part was about indigenous people in 3 climates, Arctic, Amazon and Australia. Another part about native Americans. Lots of thought-provoking exhibits raising questions around identity, integration, ethnicity and power relations.

Japanese Nō theater masks and Samurai armours, items we display at the LAD too:

A nice day, outdoors and indoors, and around around 14 km and 20,000 steps in the bank!
