Last first day

She is a SENIOR! Her last first day of school..! IB DP Grade 12, here we go!

Only one more year to go, from now there will be many 'last', an exciting year ahead! But this mum is getting real mushy, as I am re-living all the versions of her I hold in my mind. #slippingthroughmyfingers

Return and reset

Linnea and I were really happy to have got (finally) some beautiful summer days, to end our holiday. Copenhagen was great, as per usual. It was a bit sad to say goodbye to Lucas, but it was time to get home. We were both ready.

We got back home on the Thursday night, after having had an overnight at Brussels airport on the way. A long way home really, but (hopefully) the last time traveling via Europe; can't wait to have our direct Copenhagen flights start on the 1st of October!

Nathan was working all Friday, and then HE left for Copenhagen on Friday night - going to enjoy his August leave week. So we barely even had time to catch up.

I spent my Friday unpacking and tidying up, and - resetting the house for fall. I know, early, but since school is starting and summer holiday is over, it is fall in our home.

My amazing stick sculpture from Vildhjärta survived the trip carefully wrapped in my hand luggage. It's now on my desk so I can enjoy it every day! Isn't he cute?

GoBoat Copenhagen

I wanted to do something this time in Copenhagen that I had seen on some Instagram-accounts lately - hire a GoBoat!

You can hire these boats for one or two hours, without having any license or sailing certificate. The boats are electric and only move at about 5km/h, and you are your own captain.
We got Pia to be our captain and she did a splendid job, even though the rest of us had a lot of opinions on how we were supposed to position the boat, ha ha.

You can be 8 people on board, and bring a picnic or drinks. We brought coffee, and some pastries, as we were sailing just before lunchtime.

We could enjoy all the Copenhagen sights from the canals. Apart from passing under 20 bridges, we saw for example the BLOX building, The Old Stock Exchange and the Copenhagen Opera House, amongst many other things.

It was a really, really nice experience and I actually would like to do it again on our next visit! Such a cool, fun and different thing to do.

Afterward we went to have lunch down in Strædet. It was another day of beautiful summer weather (thank you Copenhagen!), so we sat outside, and people watched at the same time. My favourite sport!

Great day!

A Warpigs night

Pia joined us for our last days of the holiday across in Copenhagen. We were all very kindly invited to stay at Thomas place.
On our first evening we killed two birds with one stone and had a date with some of our Danish friends, at the pub where Lucas has been working - a Warpigs night.

We found the summer in Copenhagen! It was sunny and beautiful, and warm all evening long. We could sit outside until it was time to go home!

Cecilie was there, and Emma came as well, after she had finished work.

Filippa.

Kamilla even came over from Jylland to hang out with us!

Katja and Dorthe were there too!

And of course, Lucas and Tove - and Lucas’ mate Simon.

It was a great night! Yummy pork food and good beer! Warpigs rocks!

Bunkeflo bubbles

We had a pit stop in Bunkeflostrand after having dropped our rental car off. Pia had waited all summer to have some company to open up a bottle of champagne with! I was happy to abide!

Goodbyes

Time to leave Skara for another few days in Denmark, before the summer holidays are finished.
Goodbyes ON the stairs (in stead of in front of it) because of the - rain, of course!

Shitty summer weather

It certainly wasn't a good summer for outdoors activities. It rained a lot.
But, I got a few good afternoons when I managed to go for a few walks. Nowhere near how many I usually do, but at least I did get some gravel under my feet, did some "forest grounding", and of course all while having Sommar i P1 in my ears!

The church where we got married. 21 years ago now!

Aaahhh... and breathe...

My favourite kind of road to walk:

Linnea even joined me one late afternoon!

Summer Sweden is so beautiful!

Sixten 100 years

My granddad (on my mothers side) would have been 100 years this year on the 17th of August.

Unfortunately he passed away just before his 80th birthday, but we still thought this day could be a reason as good as any to gather up the family.
Mum had printed out some of the information about my Morfar from her genealogy studies, that got passed around.

And we looked at old photos:

There was so much food:

Linnea was looking after all her second cousins:

My cousins and I recreated this Christmas photo from around 25 years ago. Spot on!

Aunt Elinor brought dessert:

The youngest in the family (at the moment, there is another baby baking!), little Oliver:

We also went to put some flowers on the grave of course, for the special day. Happy Birthday Morfar!
